COMPUTER SCIENCE is a field of knowledge developing in the modern world in an extremely dynamic way, and the profession of a computer scientist is one of the most sought after and profitable in the labor market. Computer science is a science that has both a technical and scientific character. If it were to be considered whether the dominant role in this area is played by theory or practice, it should be said that theory serves practice.

Internships
IT is one of the fastest changing industries. Along with dynamism, the demand for specialists in this field is also increasing. Their salaries are also increasing. Computer science is a science that is both technical and scientific in nature. It is worth mentioning that it has been the most popular field of study in the group of technical sciences for many years. The reason for this is, in addition to the high earnings already during the studies, the possibility of realising one’s own projects and developing oneself in many areas of computer science. Second-cycle computer science students are often those who have already been working in their profession for many years. This is due to the high demand on the labour market for specialists in this field, as well as the various industries in which the employment of a computer science graduate is essential. Completing a second degree in this field, in addition to broadening your knowledge by learning, among other things, in a state-of-the-art cyber security laboratory, will allow you to increase your earnings and the possibility of further career promotions, while interesting and modern specialisations will allow you to stand out on the labour market.
Specializations
Graduates of this specialisation will possess knowledge and skills: designing, programming and implementing software for companies, with particular emphasis on knowledge of its production and maintenance cycle. The studies prepare graduates for designing IT systems, programming distributed applications, in particular WWW applications, mobile programmes (for mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets).
Graduates of this specialisation have the knowledge necessary to create a fully functional system using advanced multilayer techniques. They will be able to build the functionality of integrated management systems, B2B, B2C and Business Intelligence systems. Analyse and process using advanced database solutions, artificial intelligence and machine learning methods using Python. The specialisation responds to the huge demand for specialists in programming, data processing, relational as well as non-relational databases, data warehousing and Big Data. Graduates learn the entire process from functional analysis, through design, programming, implementation, testing and maintenance of an information system, including processing data, analysing and discovering new knowledge from it.
Skills
A graduate of a degree in computer science with this specialisation is characterised by knowledge, skills and attitudes concerning IT issues in the design, implementation and development of software, programming of database, web and mobile applications. He/she has knowledge and skills in the configuration of business systems and business processes, and is able to design software for customer needs. Is able to manage, analyse and extract knowledge from data using machine learning and artificial intelligence-based algorithms. Is skilled in designing, constructing and commissioning data storage and processing systems and designing complex systems.
Education on the Cyber Security specialisation will enable the student to acquire knowledge and skills in, among others, computer science, data communications and programming. These are necessary to acquire specialised competences allowing to ensure the security of computer systems and ICT networks under conditions of various types of threats, the scale of which is growing along with the intensive development of services based on network technologies. Technical competences are complemented by knowledge and skills in the field of non-technical issues, e.g. information security management, which, together with the interpersonal skills developed in the process of education, prepares the graduates to effectively interact with those responsible for the security of the functioning of large institutions and organisations and the critical infrastructure of the state.
Skills you will acquire:
- Monitor events occurring in an organisation’s IT infrastructure and analyse them towards information security.
- Aggregate information from various sources to identify and analyse threats to IT systems and the data processed by these systems.
- Plan and implement IT infrastructure for the security of IT systems and networks.
- Correctly identify security threats and incidents including response to them.
- Function in an organisation with an implemented information security management system in a manner that minimises the impact of these incidents.
- Function in CSIRT or SOC teams.
Digitalisation in companies is one of the most dynamic processes in today’s business reality. Automation and robotisation, as well as intelligent systems and the germs of artificial intelligence have become a permanent feature of our everyday life. In order to meet modern trends, WSEI in Lublin has offered students of this specialisation a programme thanks to which they will gain broad knowledge of the application of modern systems in the business environment. The qualifications obtained will allow them to gain employment in the most modern sectors of the economy.
Graduates will be able to:
- Use and co-develop customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Plan and implement ERP class systems.
- Navigate complex cloud computing environments.
- Use virtualisation tools.
- Use electronic technologies in business.
- Make full use of e-marketing and social media tools.
- Navigate Industry 4.0 and IoT solutions.
- Apply information security principles and practices.
